Jeanneau Boats For Sale UK
After watching a powerboat pass by his window in 1957 Henri Jeanneau began building a boat of his own in Les Herbiers, France. He then raced this boat in the six-hour Paris Grand Prix, becoming the first competitor to cross the finish line, before founding the Jeanneau Shipyard.
Working with fibreglass, the first model to be produced was called ‘Sport Polyester’, followed by the ‘Mirage’ and the ‘Prélude’. Jeanneau’s first production line power boat, the Sea Bird, arrived in 1963 with the yard’s first sail boat, the Alizé, arriving a year later.

The Jeanneau yard entered many speed and endurance races and for 16 years, from 1982, was the exclusive supplier for the sailing ‘Tour de France’. The Jeanneau Techniques Avancées workshop that began in 1982 developed approximately 50 high-tech racing prototypes, some of which went on to sail in The America’s Cup and The Globe Challenge.
