2002 Moody 64 Boat For Sale
Moody 64 is a remarkably powerful boat, fully capable of fast passage times across the full range of conditions. Her stunning performance derives from the Bill Dixon’s hull shape which balances the power of the underwater sections and lead keel with the tall, high aspect ratio, hydraulically powered fully furling cutter rig with self-tacking stay sail. Despite her size, the Moody 64 is easily handled by two people. Sail controls and deck handling systems are powered and controlled from the cockpit with its twin steering wheels, padded helm seats. The raised saloon is breathtaking. It fully exploits the entire width of the generous hull shape and with its large side and forward-facing windows, has high levels of natural light and superb visibility. The rest of the accommodation is equally magnificent. The massive owner’s stateroom has full en-suite. Study area, aft of the large and practical chart station, complete with fold-away sea berth. 2 guest cabins forwards, with two toilets and shower compartments, plus a separate skipper’s cabin complete with its own facilities. HULL AND DECK
Hand laid glassfibre construction with isopthalic gelcoat backed by initial lay-up of powder bound mat and isopthalic resin. Balsa cored sandwich construction for increased panel stiffness and optimum weight distribution. Hull stiffened by bonded in bulkheads plus frames and stringers. Underwater sections from stem to keel further stiffened by utilising an Aramid (Kevlar) laminate to increase impact resistance. Transom includes powered hinging transom door/swimming platform. Swept teak laid ring deck plus forward and after coachroof areas. Deck stiffened with balsa core, with plywood backing pads in way of deck fittings. Deck edge incorporates raised bulwark with teak cap rail. Inset cavita line in topsides.
Lead/antimony ballast keel, shoal keel with flattened bulb which maintain the same centre of gravity position as the fin keel version. GRP semi balanced rudder mounted on half depth skeg with bronze heel fitting. Rudder supported with stainless steel bar rudder stock.
SPARS AND RIGGING
Masthead rigged cutter with powder coated painted Seldon mast and boom.
Stainless steel standing rigging supporting triple aft swept spreader keel stepped mast. Hydraulically powered furling using Selden Furlex stays for forestay and inner forestay plus inmast furling mainsail system. Hydraulic furling powered by Lewmar Commander. Backstay and boom vang also hydraulically adjustable, supplied by Navtec.

4 cylinder turbo charged diesel engine driving through reduction gearbox, bronze P bracket and folding propeller. Engine instrument panel mounted in cockpit. Fuel supply from tank fitted with remote fuel shut off cocks. Sound insulated engine compartment.
Major engine overhaul in 2016 by Yanmar agents.12 sea cocks changed Shaft seal new. Shaft withdrawn.
Engine driven 110 amp 24 volt alternator charging ships battery banks. Ships DC system 24 volt wired through battery isolator switches and distribution panel incorporating circuit breaker switches, batteries indicator lights and battery state indicator.
